Third Baptist Church of San Francisco is celebrating its 160th Anniversary…the oldest religious institution of African American origin in the Western United States. Third Bapist Church and its extraordinary legacy, ministries and story have provided exemplary Christian love, leadership and service throughout San Francisco, throughout the country and through missions throughout the world. Notable African American icons such as Paul Roberson, W.E.B. Dubios, Benjamin Elijah Mays, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mahalia Jackson, Josephine Baker and so many others have graced the pulpit of Third Baptist Church in various occassions over the years adding to the rich history and a true testament to this magnificent house of worship.
The 160th Anniversary Documentary is a montage of memories, music and milestones which attempts to capture, celebrate and pay tribute to the legacy of this divine institution. Reflecting in reverence on the shoulders upon which we stand as chronicled in church history, San Francisco History and proud African American History….as evident in this documentary, we pass the torch to the next generation of believers, leaders and children of God at Third Baptist Church and beyond.
