Let’s celebrate: The Revival Committee under the co-chair leadership of Reverends Richard and Shunnae Baker, have done an exciting, dynamic and quality job of preparing us for our Revival! We have one of the ablest preachers, Rev. Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III to deliver the Word! All auxiliaries and committees have been engaged and now all we have to do is welcome back home those who have been displaced from our city because of Urban Renewal, and in the process, acknowledge the families of this church who really know what it means to hang together as nurturing committees in spite of the negatives of this world. So let us keep the fire of Revival going for these 4 Nights of services. There will be a blessing to those within the church and others who are in the community and who need a spiritual family, where they can grow and glow, as people of God, charged to make a difference in the world.
On another note, we would like to remind all members that it is our individual responsibility to contact there persons and invite them to participate in getting others to come to the Revival. This effort is just the beginning of what we hope to do to reach out to the community and fulfill the great commission of Jesus to go into the world, teach and make disciples, and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
It goes without saying that more of the preached Word, great singing, and a fellowship that we shall encounter this week, we will be informed and inspired to have a better day! However, we must move beyond information, inspiration to implantation. How might we possibly do this? By following the leadership of the church to the Board of Supervisor om Tuesday, Sept, 29th at which time the wider community would gather with other coalitions who are fighting for more affordable housing for all people and our people who have not gotten justice in the area of fair housing opportunities. At the board Meeting we shall also push for measures that will keep the faith-based nonprofit housing developments in our community and for our people who have been greatly under-served.
Finally, the NAACP will be meeting at 3:00 PM this afternoon, at which time the new chief of schools will share his vision of San Francisco Unified Schools and we shall all get to know who the new principal of Willie Brown Middle School will be. The Revival Committee has made arrangements for Brunch following the Service so that you will have the convenience of dinning between services. Please come next door and gather around the tables for the breaking of bread.
